Course and qualification
Which exact apprenticeship standard and version will be delivered? Which regulated qualification is included? Does the qualification meet the current Department for Education requirements for the role?
Delivery
How is off-the-job training scheduled? Is teaching online, face-to-face or blended? How frequently will a trainer visit or contact the apprentice?
Support
Who is the named trainer? What happens if the apprentice falls behind? How are additional learning needs and English or maths requirements assessed and supported?
Employer workload
What must the workplace mentor provide? How are progress reviews organised? What evidence or observations need to be completed in the setting?
Results and quality
Ask about achievement rates for the specific standard, recent inspection outcomes, learner satisfaction and how many current early years apprentices each trainer supports.
Costs
Request a written explanation of the funding route, employer contribution, any costs outside the funding band and the rules if the apprentice leaves or changes employer.
